Our Epic Journey

The newly minted Mrs. Calahan and I set out for Minneapolis on Saturday morning at 7:30 am. We were on a mission. The Pioneer Woman was signing books at the Mall of America, and by god, we were going to be there! We set out on our whirlwind day trip and arrived at the mall at 11:30 am-pretty good time! We bought our books and waited in line for Ree to show up-she was slated for 1:00 pm. The line was ridiculous. We were actually in the front (first 100 people). We thought we would be done by 2:00 pm and we could have a quick stop at the Swedish Furniture Wonderland that is IKEA. We were wrong. We didn’t even get up to see The Pioneer Woman until 4:00 pm! But it was totally worth it-I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes!
We’ve got our books, and somehow we look jet lagged. I can’t explain it.
The line Almost there! We’re one person away!
Victorious! We got our books signed and a t-shirt!
We decided to brave IKEA anyway. We bought a bunch of random things. My purchases included: an apple corer, 6 cinnamon rolls and a pillow cover. I think we were just delirious and grabbing items. It was a long day but we’ve decided we can officially check “take a spontaneous road trip” off of our bucket list.

I’m not sure I’ll ever be the same. Did you know my dinner party somehow lasted until 3 am and involved me doing Lambchop (the sock puppet) impressions? Clearly, spontaneous road trips don’t agree with my brain.
