Fireplace Revamp

Our fireplace was really starting to show it’s age. The tiles in front were an old icky terracotta color and the fireplace cover was brass. We had already switched out all our fixtures and doorknobs to the all holy brushed nickel. We looked into replacing the screen and well, to be honest it was more than we wanted to spend! The fireplace is a major focal point in the room so we wanted to make sure it looked nice.

We replaced the tiles with the same ceramic tiles that we used in the kitchen and baths. I think it’s important in such a small house to keep it looking cohesive. We then set out to tackle the screen. After seeing a tutorial on HGTV we were convinced we could take on the makeover. Here’s a link to a step by step tutorial.

All it took was taking the screen off (VERY easy!) and spray painting that bad boy with some heat resistant glossy black spray paint.

So, you want pictures right?

Chipping out the old tile. We did this at the same time we were re-doing the hardwood floors.

Looks so much better! Have you used the fireplace since spraying? Any issues with the heat effecting the paint?
