Wood Floors

When we bought our home there were “finished” wood floors in the living room/dining area and the hallway downstairs. These finished floors were in pretty
rough shape, as you can see. The rest of the rooms had carpet. Horrible, horrible carpet. We originally had plans to rip up all of the carpet and have the floors refinished. After trying to refinish the floors by ourselves (unsuccessfully) we called in the experts. We were quoted a ridiculous amount for the square footage we have. It just didn’t make sense to spend that kind of money looking at the house resale price.
So we headed to our local Lumber Liquidators. We looked and looked but couldn’t decide. When Oak Gunstock engineered flooring went on sale online we snapped it up (I don’t think we ended up spending more than $2 a sq. foot). I couldn’t be more happy with the results! My stepdad, Doug, worked tirelessly to get these installed in 3 days. Amazing. It makes all the difference when you walk in the door!
The day our floors arrived it snowed 8 inches- of course!!
We had to do a lot of furniture shuffling since we were living in the house while we were redoing every floor!! The dogs weren’t even fazed!
Ahh! So happy, just look at those floors beam at us!
These floors were meant to be floating floors, just tongue and groove across the entire surface. We ended up nailing ours down (with an air nailer) because our house is old and wobbly and the floor tends to be uneven. Just so you know!

Gosh…I had Central Iowa Hardwood Floors re-do my old oak floors & he was very reasonabley priced & did a beautiful job! Maybe it was so reasonable cuz I didn’t need new stain, just scuff up the old varnish & apply new.
