Burlap Wreath

I’ve seen tutorials all over the crafty blogs using burlap. I saw this wreath and knew I had to make one. I think we’ve established I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with wreaths. Please see here ,here oh, and here. Armed with my $4.94 burlap and wire hanger I went to work.
I cut the strips of burlap about 4 inches wide. I didn’t really measure, I just kind of winged it. I figured this wreath was going to look rustic, so why not? Warning-the burlap stringy things get everywhere!
After cutting the strips I scrunched them together and weaved them on to the rounded out wire hanger. After a few tries I figured out scrunching first and then putting the burlap on the hanger worked best. That way all of your folds are about the same size. See picture below.
Just keep filling up your wire hanger! I ended up using about 2 yards of burlap.
Wah-lah! I’ll most likely trim down some of the crazy fly-aways the wreath is currently sporting. I just love how it turned out! I added some ribbon I had lying around to the bottom. I didn’t add a bow since I was trying for a rustic theme. Pretty cute if I do say so myself and for $4.94 you can’t beat that with a stick.

Dontcha just love it when a plan comes together? I haven’t had a wreath in the seven years since I lived in an apartment. This year I decided to buck the boring apartment life trend and hang a wreath. Now I think I might be an addict too!
