Coffee Table Update

I know I told you I was going to paint everything white but I felt a little different about our coffee table (which by the way-is a repurposed piano bench). It started out black.
I decided to paint it with some Rustoleum spray paint I had left over. It promised to give a hammered metal look. Well, it didn’t.
So I thought about adding some stain to give it a little more texture. I figured if I really hated it I could always paint it white.
I really like how the stain made it look like the grain lines were huge. But you know me, I couldn’t leave well enough alone. Out came the Ralph Lauren Glaze…
This is lighter than the stain and paint so it really highlighted the nooks and crannies and all of the distressed parts of the coffee table.
I personally like the distressed look (I know not everyone is on board!) but doesn’t it look like a piece of driftwood or something? I think it gives it a little more interest and will be a nice contrast to our white slipcovered couches.
So what do you think? Too distressed or just right? Would you paint it white?
