Urban Jungle

I’ve never been much of a gardener. I’m excellent with hostas and annuals in flower boxes. That is the extent of my talent. So moving to an apartment didn’t leave me too sad about leaving behind yard work and garden tending. We thought our place needed a little life added to it but Matt wasn’t too keen on buying fresh flowers every two weeks (shocking right?).

We found some hearty looking plants at our local Home Depot and Ikea (who knew?!) and I am proud to report that they’re all alive and doing well.

We added a $3 succulent plant from Home Depot to $1 white pot from Ikea and it has found the perfect perch in our 1/2 bath.

We scooped up this mini fern from Ikea and popped it into another $1 planter and it cheers up our kitchen sink. Although, upon closer inspection it looks like it could stand a little more love.

We also decided our patio was looking a little grim without any foliage. We added this mini palm tree from Ikea to remind us we’re living in paradise and a $5 annual to our galvanized Hawkeye bucket for some color. I think it looks much more cheery!
