Mama Must Haves: Makeup Stash

Alternately titled: How to convince your neighbors and the FedEx man that you actually have your shi-ot together {even though you’re wearing sweatpants, again} and look like a respectable lady.

I mean, let me just state the obvious right here. This is not a fashion/beauty blog. <—–duh. BUT! I stumbled into the find of the century ladies and had to share with you all. BB Cream. Have you heard of it? I found it about two months ago after getting a free sample in my Real Simple magazine. Let’s just pause here and proclaim how much I love free samples. Seriously. I order from Sephora.com instead of going in-store because I love getting to try my 5 free samples of random face junk.

Since I am apparently living under a rock, I thought BB Cream was just a brand name given to Loreal’s line of tinted moisturizers. Wrong-o! It’s actually a generic type of product and each brand has their own version {like blush would be the generic product and Clinique would have a blush called “blushwear”}. I hope that makes sense. I discovered my mistake after picking up Garnier’s BB Cream, not Loreal’s {which, for the record smells amazing and works decently well}. Since I really liked the sample I tried I scurried back to Target and picked up the Loreal version.

SO….to prove how glorious this product is. I’m giving you a before and after of my mug. I mean, this is what the internet needs people. Another makeup tutorial from at stay at home mom. I know.

BEFORE: Can we just pause for a moment and talk about how awkward it was taking self portraits? I do this for you.

AFTER: This is with just the BB Cream + chapstick. It may not seem too different from the before picture but trust, it IS. I have vitiligo and the skin under my eyes is really, really white. I gives me that opposite raccoon look and this product evens out my skin reddish skin well without feeling cakey and covering all of my freckles up. I feel pretty confident hitting the streets {that sounds wrong} with Hudson and possibly running into people out and about with just this look.

Easy Mom Makeup

FULL AFTER aka BB Cream, blush, mascara, eyeshadow, and lip gloss. I’m including this one because I think sometimes tinted moisturizers don’t work well with the rest of my make up but this one does the trick{kindly note, I am not naked in this pic}.

Pull your hair down, throw on a cardigan and BOOM. You are out the door sister. In 10 minutes flat.

BB Cream After

Alright, be kind in the comments. Tell me what your go-to makeup product is. Or maybe I am the last person on god’s green earth to hear about BB Cream?  Any other makeup time savers for me?

PS- I mean, I think this is obvious but this was not a paid or sponsored post. Loreal/Garnier/all of the makeup mavens of the world have no idea who I am.

I found Garnier BB a while back and I like it a lot. I only use powder and mascara daily, but on days I need to step it up, it works great. I haven’t tried any other brands but your Sephora trick sounds genius haha!

I like the smell of Garnier {wierd, I know!} and it gives decent coverage but I love the Loreal version! It seems to really reduce the redness on my face!

So jealous that you can get by on powder and mascara! My face needs a little more spackle. :)

I love the Loreal one, too! Do you use the cheaper one (like $7.99 or something) or the more expensive one? I’ve been using the cheaper one but am considering trying the $15.99 one that has sunscreen built in, too. I even got my mom hooked on the anti-aging Loreal one. She loves it! I do think I need to move to the “fair” color though–I have “light” and I’m so pale it’s not even light enough! SAD! NEED SOME SUN!

I use the $7.99 version. El Cheapo, reporting for duty! :) Let me know how the more expensive one works out!
