After last weekend’s hiking adventure we were totally prepared for another 2 hour hike. Thankfully, the path we chose was more of a leisurely stroll than the death hike we encountered last week. I think we were up and down in within 30 minutes after snapping 20 or so touristy photos. There are plenty of more strenuous hikes around the sign but since we had the dogs we decided a stroll was more our speed.

We used this site to decide where to start. The drive up to the hills is actually really neat. Lots of windy roads and awesome views. The houses were also amazing!

Once we “arrived at our destination” per our trusty Garmin we found ourselves at a fancy dog park with real grass and everything. The dogs were in hog dog heaven. After a quick romp in the park we turned our sites to the trail. It was nice that we could see the sign the entire way up.

The Sign website claims fire risk, rattlesnakes and mountain loins as a few possible encounters on the ascent to the top. We happily stayed in the designated area and still got quite the money shot.

So, that’s how we crossed another thing off of our Bucket List. Did you do anything adventurous this weekend?

In other news, we took our pups to the dog beach for the first time. They loved it. The water was a little chilly but the weather was perfect. My Mom gave them bikinis as going away gifts so we suited them up and had a photo shoot. For your viewing pleasure, I present dogs in bikinis…

Guilty.

Not this year. We have been wanting to get our families together all summer and this seemed like a great weekend, so why not throw in a dog party? So the invites went out. We had quite the turnout. The dogs got tons of treats, a cake and lots of accessories (oh, the joys of small dogs).
Below are the pictures from the day, because clearly, I have no shame.

I took the dogs out for their evening romp in the yard. I was enjoying the weather and saw something in the yard. I sauntered over and ew, sick. It was a dead rabbit. It was missing body parts. Well my hunting dogs were oblivious to the animals so I hustled them inside to wait for the Mr. to come home and take care of this issue.

He comes home, and I tell him about our dog’s stellar hunting skills and if he could please dispose of the animal. Thank.you.very.much. I thought he ran it over with the lawn mower. Well, apparently not. There was a HUGE hawk in the yard back for it’s prey. Holy crap!

The Mr. got the hawk out of there and I didn’t ask details on the rabbit but it’s out of the yard. We have since been having hawk drills with the dogs. We caw at the dogs and they hide under large objects. I am fully aware this is not normal but we’re trying to be prepared.

Lulu’s first snow!

I fall for it every time. I think the dog is going to behave. I mean, why would she try to eat my lunch while I left the room for one second? I came back to a 4 lb. chi-weenie leaning as far as she could from the couch to reach the coffee table trying to steal my string cheese. She only got a lick. Then the real dilemma. Do you throw it away and suffer because it’s the last string cheese? Or do you just eat it and pretend it didn’t happen? I ate it. Don’t tell.
