Slip On Over

I showed you our fancy new slipcovers that we found at Overstock.com last week. I finally finished the homemade version for our ottoman. This thing was in seriously bad shape. The dogs had used it as a doormat to wipe their muddy paws, there was that red gatorade incident and the cross country trek didn’t [...]

crafting up shirts

I don’t know if it’s the small town gal in me or the sorority girl but something about big life events drives me to commemorate the day through t-shirts. Even Matt joins in on this one. He actually won a t-shirt design contest for his Eastern Iowa Cub Scouts (Hawkeye Area Council for all of [...]

Take a Seat

This is going to be one heck of a post ladies (and gents? Are there any out there?). I have FINALLY finished the chairs. You know, the ones I started 2 months ago?

With my first upholstery project completed I can tell you that you need to be equal parts crazy adventurous, cheap and [...]

Wordle

We’re always on the lookout for inexpensive “art".” I saw Katie’s idea about creating a collage representative of their favorite places. I immediately wanted one for Des Moines. We love it here. We started our married life here and have so many memories so we’re pretty sentimental. I wouldn’t want to be around me on [...]

Ruffles

My sewing class is finally finished and I can proudly say “I made something!” Behold, my beautiful ruffle apron. I found the tutorial here. The fabric was pretty inexpensive. I spent about $3 a yard for the print and $1.50 a yard for the solid pink.
I think it turned out pretty cute!

The fabric (felt) was relatively inexpensive but the time, oh the time it took to cut out one milllleeeooon [...]

I’ve seen tutorials all over the crafty blogs using burlap. I saw this wreath and knew I had to make one. I think we’ve established I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with wreaths. Please see here ,here oh, and here. Armed with my $4.94 burlap and wire hanger I went to work.

I cut the [...]

Just Because

Those are the gifts we’ve always gotten from our Grandma when she would visit us. “Just Because Gifts” have included everything from the free gift sets from Clinique, new polos, or other fun trinkets she’s found for us since she’s last visited.
This year I got the mother of all Just Because Gifts. Behold people. A [...]

When DIY Goes Wrong

I had great plans for my crafty Christmas gifts for all of the ladies in my family. It was supposed to turn out like this. It didn’t. I bought the soap, the bottles and the glycerin. In my defense, the directions were pretty vague. I bought bars of castille soap and obviously that wasn’t going [...]

Intervention

I need a wreath making intervention.  I found another tutorial over at Just a Girl and Thrift Decor Chick.  I had to make my own Christmas ornament wreath.  It was really easy.  The most time consuming part was hot gluing all of the ornament hanger to the actual ornaments.  All you need is about 25 [...]
