Since we’ve adopted our new monthly meal plan I’ve been putting more thought into what we’re eating. In the past I’ve usually made the main dish, added a veggie but then relied on packaged sides like Rice a Roni. In an effort to be healthier I’ve been tracking my food on The Daily Plate and [...]

In an effort to stay organized and start eating more meals at home I decided to take weekly meal planning to a whole other level. Monthly planning. Crazy huh?
I read about monthly meal planning here. We had been doing the weekly meal plans but almost every week I would be an ingredient or two [...]

My Dad and Step-Mom Amy have officially moved to California. This is so fun for us! Amy accepted a job out here about 3 weeks after we moved. Talk about perfect timing. We met up with them for the 4th of July and brought them a “Welcome to California” treat. Pineapple shaped sugar cookies. I’m [...]

I think I’ve established that I love baking. Sugar cookies are one of my favorites. Both Bakerella and Bake at 350 have such cute ideas. When I saw this on Fancy Flours.com, I knew it had to be mine. They might not be ready for the big time but they were delicious to eat!

Our Epic Journey

The newly minted Mrs. Calahan and I set out for Minneapolis on Saturday morning at 7:30 am. We were on a mission. The Pioneer Woman was signing books at the Mall of America, and by god, we were going to be there! We set out on our whirlwind day trip and arrived at the mall [...]
Pumpkin Butter

Matt sent me this recipe from one of his co-workers. It was really simple and delicious!! My only qualm-the butter takes 1.5 hours to set up! So, I stirred, and I stirred, and stirred and finally we had pumpkin butter. We had a test run of the little crescent roll bites that I’m bringing to [...]

We are big on Mexican food around here. It is hands down my favorite. It’s really easy to make too! Well, let me tell you, I have to stock pile those little taco seasoning packets like were preparing for WW3. Until now my friends. I have to give a shout out to my BFF, Mel, [...]
Sunday Funday

Sunday was the perfect fall day-finally. No more rain and it was almost 60 degrees. Is anyone else sad that were celebrating temperatures in the sixties? Well, to celebrate our last bit of fall I made homemade apple crisp. Very homemaker-y, no? I found the recipe on allrecipes.com and tweaked a little. Delicious.
