We hung our 11×13 frames above our couch the first month we lived here. They held our wedding pictures but we soon anticipated swapping them out for a more living room friendly vibe and a little more color.

I recently received a comment saying they liked the photos above the couch. My Mom is also in that camp. I lean more towards the “don’t put up wedding photos all over the house.” In case you’re curious, we also have engagement/wedding photos in our bedroom.

Here are the prints that I just picked up to replace our pictures (sorry this is an ebay photo). They’re bigger than the wedding prints at 16×19 so I’m not too worried about them looking small above the couch.

The green is pretty bright. If we go with these I’ll probably add in some green throw pillows on top of the grey ones. I’m really hoping this makes our room a little less blah. It seems so plain. I’d like to add in a punchy color and I think the green will do the trick.

My only concern with these is that they’re too impersonal. Maybe they look a little too much like hotel prints?

So dear readers, I need your help. Do they stay or do they go? Should I replace the wedding pictures with the ones I’ve just bought? Start from scratch? Any other solutions you can come up with? I’m all ears!

and now:

We will be swapping out the wedding photos shortly. Although, I love to look at us everyday in our wedding finest, I’m not sure our guests would love it. I’m also thinking of adding some different pillows to the couch.

How about the dining area?:

After some<strike> Major</strike> a little decluttering, paint and some prints on the wall. Hey, it almost feels like a dining area in here!

You’ll have to wait a little longer to see the entire dining area. We’re not finished yet!

I love having a group of prints together over the sofa or on a long wall. Nothing makes me more irritated than when one picture is off level though. That being said, I still love just eyeballing it and just hoping it’s right. This time, Matt took the much more effective route and mapped it out before we hung a thing.

Step 1- measure your picture frame & add any space between your frames. For us (dining room) the frames were 17 inches across and we wanted 2 inches between each photo. That means each nail hole will be 19 inches apart.

Step 2- Mark where you want your first picture to start and make a level line. Use a PENCIL!!

Step 3- Make your marks where all of the nails will go. We had 4 nails 19 inches apart.

Step 4- Hang your photos and check for level. Erase your pencil line.

Done! Enjoy your level frames.

Do you have a fool proof way of hanging a row of frames? Do you wing it or map it out?
